THE COURTS SERVICE of Ireland today issued a warning to law firms about a scam email falsely purporting to be from the Supreme Court office in Dublin.

A spokesman for the courts said that the email has not been sent from the Supreme Court and urged anyone who receives the message to delete it and not to respond.

According to the spokesman: “The email refers to a changed or new statutory instrument and asks firms to open a PDF attachment and to provide certain details by this Friday.

“This attachment attempts to divert the user to a website outside the jurisdiction. All lawyers are advised not to provide any details or answer this mail.”

The Courts Service said it is examining the email and that they will forward it to gardaí.

The email has the subject line: “Supreme Court (S.I. No691/2017)) – Immediate Action Required.”
